What are the benefits of tart cherry juice concentrate?

Sleep and muscle-strength recovery are two key areas of tart cherry research. Small sleep trials and exercise studies have reported improvements in selected outcomes, although the evidence is not equally strong for every benefit. [1] [2] [3]

Concentrate also gives you practical benefits: a compact bottle, mix-to-taste flexibility, and real cherry flavor for drinks and food. Here is how the research and the everyday advantages fit together.

Start with what matters to you

Why people explore tart cherry.

01 / Sleep

A closer look at better rest.

A small trial in 20 healthy adults found improvements in sleep time and sleep efficiency after seven days with a tart cherry concentrate. A 2025 review found positive sleep results in some studies, but the evidence remains limited and varied. [1] [2]

02 / Exercise recovery

Recovery of muscle strength.

A 2026 review of 19 trials found better recovery of muscle strength after demanding exercise in trained athletes. Results varied substantially, and pooled soreness results did not show a clear benefit. [3]

03 / Fruit compounds

More to the fruit than flavor.

Tart cherries contain anthocyanins and other polyphenols studied for their biological activity. Laboratory work helps explain interest in these compounds, but an antioxidant test is not a measurement of a person’s health benefit. [4]

The research in perspective: these studies tested specific preparations, not the current FruitFast Montmorency–Morello blend. Sleep trials were small, and exercise findings largely concern trained athletes. The results help you explore tart cherry, but do not establish the same outcome for every product or person.

Choose your cherry carefully

Two varieties. One ingredient.
The FruitFast difference.

Our 32 oz Tart Cherry Concentrate combines Montmorency and Morello cherries in one distinctive blend. No added sweeteners. No filler juices. Just bold, sweet-tart cherry concentrate made for everyday use.

A full 68° Brix.

Concentrated cherry flavor means you can make a lighter drink, a bolder blend, or add a small amount to a recipe. Brix measures soluble solids—not antioxidant potency.

Understand the concentration →

Cold-filled. Kept cold.

The concentrate is flash pasteurized upstream. We do not reheat it for bottling: we cold-fill, nitrogen flush, and refrigerate the finished bottles until shipment.

We also share our company-reported 2019 anthocyanin comparison on the FruitFast Advantage page. Because of the cost, we have not repeated that testing; it describes the historical samples, not guaranteed values in today’s bottles.

Easy to enjoy. Easy to make yours.

Build a ritual you look forward to.

Enjoy a cherry drink with breakfast, blend it into a smoothie, or stir it into sparkling water in the evening. Concentrate lets you prepare only what you need and adjust the flavor to suit your taste.

Start with your bottle’s directions. Serving sizes and dilution guidance vary across products, so there is no single mixing rule for the entire FruitFast range.

Keep it ready in the fridge. Our 32 oz tart cherry concentrate travels without cold packs for normal transit. Refrigerate or freeze after arrival and follow the label’s storage instructions.

Your tart cherry questions, answered.

Will tart cherry work for me?

Some studies report benefits for sleep measurements and muscle-strength recovery. They cannot predict an individual result, and they did not test our current blend. Choose a format you enjoy, follow its directions, and use our first-bottle guarantee to decide whether the product suits you. [1] [3]

Is tart cherry concentrate the same as ready-to-drink juice?

Concentrate has much of the water removed. You add water back to the strength you enjoy, or use smaller amounts in food. Ready-to-drink juice is already diluted. Check each product’s ingredients and serving directions when comparing value.

Does no added sweetener mean sugar-free?

No. FruitFast tart cherry concentrate contains naturally occurring fruit sugars. Review its Nutrition Facts for the serving you intend to use, particularly when monitoring sugar or carbohydrate intake.

Does tart cherry naturally contain melatonin?

Melatonin has been measured in tart cherries, and researchers have studied its connection with sleep. This does not tell us the melatonin amount in a current FruitFast serving. For more, read our melatonin and tart cherry guide. [6]

What about joint comfort or everyday aches?

Joint-symptom research is less clear. In a controlled trial involving people with knee osteoarthritis, the symptom improvement with a tart cherry juice blend was not significantly greater than with placebo. Tart cherry is not a substitute for assessment or treatment of ongoing pain. [5]

When should I enjoy tart cherry juice?

Choose a time that fits your routine—breakfast, alongside your exercise routine, or as an evening drink. Research schedules differ and do not establish one ideal time for every product or person. Use the directions for your bottle.

Can I use both the juice and CherryFlex?

Some customers choose both formats at different times. Check each product’s ingredients and directions when planning your routine. For personal questions about supplements, medications, or a health condition, ask your healthcare professional.
